Data Center Resources: The Green Grid Consortium

I am always looking for new resources for the data center, and just learned about The Green Grid. What is the Green Grid? (or whom?)

“The Green Grid is a non-profit, open industry consortium of end-users, policy-makers, technology providers, facility architects, and utility companies collaborating to improve the resource efficiency of data centers and business computing ecosystems.”

Their Mission statement is: “To become the global authority on resource efficient data centers and business computing ecosystems.” Hence, you know why I have chosen this as a blog post topic.

What more can I tell you? The Green Grid’s goals:

  •  unite global industry efforts
  • create a common set of metrics
  • develop technical resources and educational tools

Their website “” is loaded with a large and growing Library of white papers and tools created to help data center managers determine and compare their operational efficiencies. Along with this informational website, The Green Grid hosts technical forums and is aligned with many technical organizations and government institutions allowing them to help in the creation and adoption of a common set of metrics and measurements for data center resource efficiency.
